Pope Francis arrived in Jordan on 23rd May 2014. This was the fouth official Papal visit to Jordan and the thrid since Pope John Paul II visited in 2000. The last three Papal visits have been during the reign of King Abdullah II, who ascended the throne on 7 February 1999 upon the death of his father King Hussein.
